We could be seeing more World Endurance Championship Teams racing in the TT next year. TT Development Manager, Paul Phillips, has been speaking to teams at the Bol D'Or 24-hour endurance race in France , after finding out their race calendar doesn't clash with the calendar in the Isle Of Man next year.
Southern 100 Racing has become the first beneficiary of the UK RaceGuard charity. The money donated will go towards replacing the straw bales around the Billown Circuit with specialist safety barriers.
TT bosses have revealed there's going to be an extended race calendar for 2008.As well as a second Supersport Race, there are going to be Lightweight and Ultra Lightweight classes, which are going to be run on a brand new TT course - the Billown Circuit. The TT's going to last a day longer next year – because the Lightweight and Ultra Lightweight classes are going to become the headline events in the Steam Packet Road Races, which are traditionally held the day after Senior Race Day. For the first time since 1959, there will be a mass start in the TT, rather than the staged starts we're used to seeing. The Billown Circuit will become the fourth circuit on the island to hold a TT race, after the St Johns course, the Mountain, and the Clypse Course.
Manx2.com's sat down with the Department of Tourism to try and increase visitor numbers here, and halt the decline in passenger numbers at Ronaldsway. It's launched what's thought to be the biggest low fare promotion in Manx aviation history, that the company says will 'change the face of air travel on the island next year'. It's going to be offering 10 000 seats to Blackpool and Belfast , for £15 each way including tax.
Island Games sponsor, NatWest, has extended its' sponsorship agreement until 2011.The Games that year in the Isle of Wight will be the seventh consecutive year the bank has sponsored the event.Earlier this year, more than 3 000 competitors from 25 islands gathered in Rhodes , to compete in 14 different sports.
